To mark her 12th year as an author, Karen Meyer is releasing “Edward the Pirate,” a new action-adventure novel geared to young adults.
Published through Pedal Down Promotions of Manitowoc, WI, Meyer’s 19th book shapes the story of a well-respected Edward, who puts his serene, respectful life in jeopardy with his reckless, self-centered ways.
Her grandson Vincent Meyer frames the pirate adventure through vivid illustrations via colorful, hand-drawn sketches.
“One of my grandsons requested that I write a pirate-themed story,” Meyer said. “That is how ‘Edward the Pirate’ came to life. Readers will find that Edward had a good life, a lovely wife, and a father-in-law’s respect. Still, his narcissist belief in his superiority became his downfall while living on a pirate ship.”
Over the past decade, Meyer has excelled in the children’s book genre since debuting “Hootch” 11 years ago. In April 2024, she partnered with Pedal Down Promotions to release the children’s book “Papa Bear’s Fence,” before debuting a medieval fantasy novel, “The Knight and the Evil Magician,” in July 2024.
Her most recent book, a romantic comedy geared toward adult readers, “Try to Catch Me,” was released in March 2025.
