Karen attributes her desire to write from two personal influences in her life.

In her one-room school experience, she was fascinated by her teacher’s reading of poetry at the end of the school year, as well as the themes chosen for the skits that the school presented to the parents.

Secondly, her high school English teacher encouraged the class to write short stories. As a result, one of Karen’s classmates was so impressed with her style of writing that she asked Karen to write a fictional story about a date she went on with her boyfriend.

Karen is now delighted to receive responses from parents of children of all ages who have identified with the characters in her books. Karen writes her books with her own eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren in mind. Writing brings her joy and has become her greatest pastime.
